My experience of English

There is no doubt that English at university has helped me a lot compared to what I learnt at school.

I feel that I have improved a lot, however, I am still scared and nervous, making it difficult for me to talk about it.

It has been a very interesting experience, one of the things I would change would be the timetable, as a Friday leaving at 6pm is a bit demotivating hahaha.

The use of blogs has helped me to make a better structure when telling stories, answering questions, giving my opinion, etc.

It is worth mentioning that for me it was quite fun to do these activities.

I have to mention that I need to improve speech, to make conversations more dynamic. As I mentioned, I get very nervous, I forget the words, and I need to reinforce that. And to achieve that I have to speak more English, gradually lose my fear and improve. I plan to go on a working holiday in the not too distant future (approx. 4 to 6 years). The destination would be an English-speaking country, obviously hahahaha.

Lately I've been using English to read "mangas" (Japanese comics), the English translations are almost always much more accurate than in Spanish.  Also to read reports, scientific articles that are in English, which helps a lot for university seminars, saving translation time.

And that's all nakamas, I hope you enjoyed the posts, have a good end of semester and a nice end of year holidays, take care and all the best in all your projects!

Changes to my study programme

- Hi nakamas, how are you, as you know, I am studying forestry engineering. While the pandemic has been a great difficulty for my learning, I would have liked to have seen some changes in the way we teach.I would like the forestry plan to be more specific with its branches.
- There are branches where botany, genetics, wood characteristics, all in one, when I think it should be one for each, and then see an interdisciplinarity between each topic. In my case, I got lost with several branches, especially biometrics, as I combined so many different topics.
- There are also several topics that can be reduced, sometimes academics go on too long with their lectures, they don't make an effort to be dynamic and make the students stay focused. As for the academic load, I think it could be reduced by a couple of papers, tests.

- However, my main complaint is that academics do not take their work seriously; there are several of them who do not make an effort to resolve doubts and make good evaluations. In the area of infrastructure, I would like to see this change at university level, because the investment in other faculties is very noticeable compared to the rest, especially the faculties of physical sciences and engineering and economics, which are the ones that receive almost the majority of the budget at university level.

That's all nakamas! Have a good week!

Time travel to the future

Hi nakamas! Have you ever wondered what time travel would be like? In my case I would like to travel back in time, but I have already assumed that it is difficult if not impossible.Despite this, I'm not so disenchanted about going to the future, because when I come back I could win the lottery and become a millionaire hahaha, enough jokes, let's get started.

If I could choose one place to go to in the future it would be Yellowstone, to see if the volcano really did explode and to capture the magnitude of the natural disaster it caused.Or go to Chernobyl, when all the radiation is gone, and see how the area, the fauna and flora changed because of the radiation there.

I wouldn't want to stay there because of the uncertainty of what it would be like to live there, I don't know if human life will continue, if the planet will be habitable, if it will be difficult to survive, etc. I was born in this era for a reason, to live it as it should be and without change.

Leave me a comment on what you think of this post or where you would like to travel to in the future if you had the chance.

See you next time nakamas!

My Future Job

Hello to all nakamas! new week, new blog. This time I will tell you about the future job I would like to have. It would be both outdoor and indoor work, as I would like to focus on research both in laboratories and in the field.
I would like to specialise in the field of chemistry in forestry engineering.
My idea is to create fertilisers, methodologies and new types of crops to counteract the drought that the country is experiencing, and why not, in other parts of the world, to avoid reaching a much more serious drought than the one that currently exists.
I would like to travel a lot, but first I want to work in forestry to be able to earn enough money to invest in my career as a scientist, so that I can make a living from it.
I would like to have a salary of about one million CLP, that would be ideal, so that I could be calm about money issues, both for me and my family, it would relax me a lot, because I know that they would not lack anything.

That was this week's post, I hope you can tell me what you think or what you would like, I hope you have a great week nakamas, see you soon!

The Best Field Trip Ever

Hello to a new week of posts, on this occasion I'll tell you about my best field trip I ever had. What was the date I had it? Which course was it? Why is it your favourite? What did I do on the field trip? What did you do after this one?

The date was the first week of October, year 2019, I don't remember which specific day, but it was around the 5th of that month. The course was on botany, specifically called "Biotic components of ecosystems", a first year course in forestry engineering. This field trip was important, because I had never felt so happy, surrounded by good friends, learning, laughing, and on a mental level it has been my happiest years, with a lot of learning, without a doubt the happiest moments of my life so far. We travelled to Cajón del Maipo, we passed the height of Baños Morales, we observed the vegetation, how it varied according to the height, relating it to abiotic factors. Then I had a birthday party for my grandmother that started at about 5 pm, and I arrived at about 6:30 pm, I was chatting with my cousins, uncles, having a barbecue, eating cakes, laughing, it was a good way to end the day.

That's all nakamas! Enjoy the week and good luck in everything.

What is my favourite film?

Hi nakamas! New week, new post.
What are my favourite films? If I had to choose one, which one would it be? Why do I like it? Who is your favourite character? Is the film true? In which country do the events take place?

My favourite films are Coach Carter, The Blind Side and The Hangover trilogy.

It's a very difficult decision, but for me among those three films, Coach Carter would be my favourite film.

I like it a lot because it shows how a random person like a basketball coach can give values to his players, make them realise the importance of studying, being university students and being disciplined in life.

My favourite character is the protagonist of the story, Coach Carter. Yes, the film is based on real events, the characters that appear in the film really existed. The events took place in the United States of America, precisely in the state of California, specifically in Richmond, a neighbourhood in the city of San Pablo.

I highly recommend this film, it is very beautiful and complete, it keeps you attentive all the time the events are taking place.

That's all nakamas, have a great week!

The best Holidays ever

It wasn't a holiday per se, but the one I enjoyed the most was my study tour in Bariloche, Argentina. The people who were on that trip were my classmates, among them several close friends with whom I have always gone to parties with them. The time of the tour was about a week, we spent 2 days travelling as we went there by bus (one way and the other way back). I remember that during the trip we stopped at certain places, a restaurant for breakfast and lunch, we stopped at gas stations in the middle of the road, which always had a great view of the surroundings. When I was already in Bariloche I visited a lot, bookshops, chocolate shops, shops, there was even a McDonald's hahahaha, walks through the main streets, even through the residential areas that were not so touristy, but we liked to know what it was like to live there. I did all this in the free time that the agency gave us, because with them we went to the most famous chocolate shop (but their chocolates were very expensive for the price), we went to a ranch as well. And finally we went to a hill in Bariloche, where we climbed up a ski lift. We also went to parties at night, we bothered our classmates as if there were ghosts, we were very annoying, but there were so many funny situations that will never be forgotten.

Bariloche 2016

That's all nakamas, I hope you tell me your experiences or where you have lived your best holidays, I say goodbye, have a great time!
